Join Rabbi Hannah for an Omer Learning Circle
Fridays May 10th, May 24th, and June 7th at 12:30pm at Reformation

If you’re anything like us, you’ve become acutely aware that summer is coming and somehow the school year is nearly over. It’s time to make every day count.

Luckily, we have the Omer — that oft-overlooked period of spiritual self-reflection as we count 49 days between Passover and Shavuot. This year, let’s take a breath and do a little learning. After all, we're not the first Jewish people to live through wild times.

A small group of us will meet over the next few weeks to explore ideas, texts, and wisdom from Jewish tradition for this spring. We’ll meet on three Fridays during lunch time at 12:30 pm at Reformation (212 E Capitol Street NE): 5/10, 5/24, and 6/7.

This will be a space for us to ask big questions (and I’m not pretending to have any big answers).

Say more about “exploring ideas, texts, and wisdom from Jewish tradition.”

The wisdom found in Jewish texts—both ancient and contemporary—can be surprising, complicated, delightful, weird, mysterious, perplexing, and fun. We read these texts broadly and generously, and we will count on everyone to add their unique voices and perspectives to our conversations.

So what will we talk about?
In short - we’ll reflect on spiritual practices for real life.

  • Week 1: The Omer: The Practice of Counting Days
  • Week 2: Discipline and Inspiration
  • Week 3: Shavuot: Broken Tablets

Can I play it by ear?

We do ask that you have some skin in the game, as we are doing the work of building a group of friends. This is more like, “I do this every other Friday during the Omer,” than “I drop in when I can.”

I'm into this. What do I do now?

Sign up here. And, if you like, forward this to a friend or two, too.
